In our final Employment Grilling for now, we've been chatting to Simon Gamble who has been working for Hydra Creative Ltd, a digital agency in Sheffield, for nearly six months as the Video Production Manager.
Perfect working day: Fortunately, I’m in a job where I get to do something I love. So, going out shooting video is my perfect day.
What makes a good employee? Passion and someone who questions the status quo – it shows people care.
What advice would you give to your 16 year old self? Just go for it, don’t hold back. I was in a job for a while, got in a rut and hesitated and procrastinated and then I did what I wanted to do. Just go for it!
First job? Silver service waiter
Best job? What I’m doing now from a creative perspective. It’s the reason why I get out of bed in the morning.
Worst job? I don’t think I have a ‘worst job’ - I’ve learnt something from every job I’ve had.
Best aspect about the company: Diversity, there are lots of different people with lots of different skills and opinions - bringing that together into a single campaign or product is very rewarding.
How do you think your co-workers would describe you? I’d like to think they’d say I’m enthusiastic and passionate about what I do - although they’d probably say I make terrible tea.
Tip for people applying for job: Keep going and don’t take no for an answer.
Tip for bosses: The ability to listen.
Batman or Robin? Batman definitely, I never really got on with Robin, he came later.
... and cut. Thanks Simon.
